Germinating
(or
starting) seeds is very
easily done with a bit of wet paper to keep the seed wet
while it germinates. It is very important to have good natural seeds
from the area you are growing in. Local seeds always give the best most
natural result.
The key to the first few weeks of
growing is keeping the roots moist. The outer husk of the seek must
be fully saturated before the roots will be able to push through.
Very little light is needed for the first few days.
Keeping
the right temperature, humidity
and other conditions stable during the beginning of your grow will not
only allow you to have a higher success rate but also healthier,
faster growing plants. Attention to detail is critical as well as
following instructions. Sealing off the area will help keep the right
stuff in and the bad things out. Generally speaking if your are
comfortable then your plants will be too. Set the lights to be on as
the sun rises and sets on a spring or summer night (up to 18 or even 24
hours of light) while the roots begin to propagate. As long as the
light is longer than the night the plant will stay in a vegetative
state.
Once
your plants are fully rooted you can begin to feed them with nutrients
and organic fertilizer. Make sure the water is clean of pollution and
the is right ph (usually around 6) for your setup. It is important to
follow the instructions of the products you decide to use for optimal
growth. Nutrients start off very diluted at the begging and ramp up as
the plant grows and adjust to the environment.
When
your plants are ready to flower you must induce the photo cycle by
cutting the light down to 12 hours per day such is found in nature.
When the plants see the shorter days they will bloom.
